Drohobych. Bruno Schulz notices a twenty-seven year old Polish teacher from a Female Teachers’ College, Józefina Szelińska.
At times he discreetly stands before her in the street. Szelińska* is intrigued by the “expression of adoration in his eyes” and “humility in [Schulz’s] attitude”1, which, after many years she will compare to the motifs known from Xięga bałwochwalcza. (rb) (transl. ms)
