Polturak Betty Albine

Bruno Schulz’s cousin.

Betty Albine Polturak née Kuhmärker (endearingly called Bintschi) was born in 1874 in Drogobych. Jonasz Kuhmärker and Sabine Serl von Hoch’s daughter. Wife of Emil Polturak, doctor of law and solicitor. Mother of Marian, Feliks and Ina. After World War I broke out, she fled to Vienna and settled there. On 9 April 1938 she went to Poland fearing the Nazi regime, during World War II she hid in Bielsko and Cracow. She survived the Holocaust thanks to false documents. She died on 31 December 1952 in Vienna1. (js)
