Zakopane. Bruno Schulz meets Zofia Nałkowska.
In a note of 4 January 1934, Zofia Nałkowska* writes in her Diaries about her arrival at the Ermitage hotel in Zakopane*. She mentions that Bruno Schulz, who has recently debuted as a writer, is also in town. “And there is Bruno Schulz, whose first book The Cinnamon Shops came out before Christmas – full of strangeness, deeply unique. And he’s definitely the most important thing. I almost don’t exist by myself, and I don’t think well about myself. [...] Bruno gentle and quiet, barely weighing something on life. But this airiness is of the best material”1. (mr) (transl. mw)
