Życie Codzienne presents an interview with Jerzy Ficowski, in which he compares contemporary Warsaw with Drogobych from Schulz’s fiction.

In an interview from the series “With Writers Across Warsaw”, conducted by Stefan Jurkowski for Życie Codzienne, Jerzy Ficowski is asked to compare today’s Warsaw with the Warsaw of the past. In response, Ficowski refers to Schulz’s fiction and compares the contemporary space of Warsaw and Schulz’s “Street of Crocodiles”: “The old Warsaw is closer to me. Today, with its funny tinsel, commercials and at the same time with its shanty buildings, it reminds me of a crippld [! – “crippled” – ed. M.R.] and pretentious Street of Crocodiles in the fiction of Bruno Schulz”1. (mr) (transl. mw)
