Paris. Bruno Schulz changes the hotel room to a cheaper one. He would spend the next five days in room 21.
After two nights at L’Hôtel d’Orient, Schulz decides to move to a cheaper room. Room number 3, which he occupied upon arrival, cost 25 francs. The price for the room he moved to was lower by five francs. He would spend the next five days there, gaining one night on this exchange. The total bill was for 209 francs, which was four times the amount that he would have had to pay for the apartment indicated by Antonina Rychterówna, Kazimiera’s niece*. According to the exchange rate1 at that time, Schulz had to pay about 35 zlotys for seven nights with breakfast (on average 5 zlotys for one night). (sr) (transl. mw)
