Marienbad. New guests check-in at Königsvilla, where Bruno Schulz has been staying for several days.

It is a clerk from Vienna, Otto Herz, with his wife 1. Admittedly, it is difficult to determine how significant new guests’ arrival was for the routine of Schulz and Hanna Hoffmann’s stay in the health resort, but it was probably a kind of social event that became a subject of comments, an opportunity to make even a casual acquaintance and courteous conversations 2.

    It is worth mentioning that the memories or correspondence of those who stayed in Marienbad at that time, and especially in the Königsville guest house, may contain information relevant to recreating that period of Schulz’s life. So far, no such potential sources have been found, but this does not mean that they do not exist and do not contain interesting detail. Therefore, it is worth making a note of these seemingly unimportant events.
