Drogobych. Bruno Schulz sends materials for the exhibition titled Życie literackie [Literary Life].

Schulz attaches a brief letter to the artwork1 which is a reply to the letter of the organisers, who invited him to participate in the exhibition presenting books, literary journals as well as manuscripts and photographs of well-known writers. The exhibition is part of the Pierwszy Powszechny Festiwal Sztuki Polskiej [First National Festival of Polish Art], which will take place between 2 and 10 October 1937 in Warsaw. Among the materials sent by Schulz, there are two manuscript excerpts from The Cinnamon Shops, two photographs, a sketch of a cover to The Cinnamon Shops, and a brief aphorism about the book. Manuscripts, photographs and the sketch will probably become part of the exhibition. In turn, the aphorism will be published in a booklet Pisarze o książce, prepared by Stanisław Piotr Koczorowski – “when I organised […] the exhibition Życie literackie, I turned to many writers, requesting them to send in their thoughts about the book in order to create the first printed collection of this kind in Poland”2.
