Warsaw. Bruno Schulz publishes a short story “O sobie” [“On Oneself”] in Studio.
In an entry in her Diaries of 10 May 1936 Zofia Nałkowska* mentions the publication of the second issue of Studio, where Schulz’s story “On Oneself” was published. The journal was created on the initiative of Bogusław Kuczyński, Nałkowska’s secretary and partner in private life. However, it was Nałkowska herself who performed the proper editorial work, and, despite the lack of financial resources and no fees offered, managed to obtain excellent authors to cooperate. Apart from Schulz, the journal published the works of, among others: Tadeusz Breza*, Stanisław Czernik, Witold Gombrowicz*, Alfred Łaszowski, Stefan Napierski*, Jerzy Stempowski, Kazimierz Truchanowski* and Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz. Nałkowska ran a section of literary and theatrical reviews (under the pseudonyms a.a. and j.b.). Preaching a programme of authenticity, Studio ended its existence about a year after the publication of issue 10–121. (mr) (transl. mw)
